The Official Book Launch of Finding My Feet - An anthology of poetic voices SECOND EDITION, a Melbourne Poets Union publication, will be held at The Windsor Hotel in the Canberra Room, 111 Spring Street, Melbourne, directly opposite State Parliament House.
It will be launched by the Minister of Creative Industries, the Honourable Vicki Ward MP on the 28th of July, Tuesday, from 2.30- 5.30 pm ..
Due to the limited capacity of the room, this will be a ticketed event via Humanitix.. Because we would like our poetry anthology to be held and read, the ticket price has been set at the cost of the book-$50- and will be received upon arrival at the venue. The new contributing poets do not need to purchase a ticket as they receive a gratis copy of the book for their contribution, upon arrival. There will be more books available for purchase at the venue. Any guest who chooses to accompany them, will need to have purchased a ticket. Canapes and a sparkling wine will be received upon arrival. A cash bar will ensue thereon.
This book celebrates the poetry of 200+ contemporary poets of whom the majority live in Australia. All the poetry of the first edition is still here… Out of the 167 contributors of the first edition, only Barry Dickins has an extra poem included in the Second Edition about his pet dog Joey, which we had inadvertently missed in our first go which Barry remembered and reminded us of … as well as poetry by 36 newly contributing poets of the second edition. They are: Andrew Brion, Terry Manion, Eddy Burger, Jennifer Harrison, Hugo Kelly, Tim Loveday, Jonathan Lewis, Kylie Brickhill Alicia Sometimes, Mike Sargeant, Christina Spry, Kristin Henry, Kay Arthur, Sharon Lee Szova, Brendan O’Reilly, Gabrielle Everall, Lyndon Walker, Anna Fern, Maurice McNamara, Elis Bilal (Calliope Orpheus), Steve Jones, Avril Bradley. John Armstrong, Karen Throssell, Alana Kelsall, Laura Brinson, Aidan McLindon, Peter Murphy, Alice White, Fiona Stuart, Dina Dounis, John Bartlett, Simone Pereira, Rhonda Wilson. Vasilka Pateras and Marki “Mitt” Alamidis.
Melbourne Poets Union apologises for the short notice of the launch – only 14 days to go from the time of posting but confirmation from the Ministerial office was only received today…
Kevin Brophy and Dorothy Poulopoulos will host this event, and selected guest poets will read their poems featured in the second edition.
