Word Weavers - a poetry group for women of coulour

Raw * Authentic Unfiltered

Experienced facilitator and published poet, Indrani Perera, will take you on an odyssey to explore your cultural connections, personal heritage and multiple inheritances through the medium of poetry.

Indrani is passionate about helping people to find their unique voice and tell their stories through verse. She also knows that what people want to write about is deeply personal and as such there is no expectation that you will write about any particular topic or idea.

In these sessions we will be writing poetry, sharing our work and giving feedback to our fellow poets.

We will be looking at themes through a lens of reclamation but you can write poems on any subject you want - from love, birds and nature, to disconnection, malls and traffic lights, and everything in between. You will be encouraged to write about what feels most alive for you in the moment. Prompts are only ever invitations, where you take them is entirely up to you.

_______________

This is a safe space for writers who are celebrating their diversity, questioning their identity, experiencing cultural alienation, and recovering from assimilation.
