Dates carry meaning. They carry memories and anniversaries and little glimpses into our lives. Albert Lin has written a poem every day since the 15th of February 2017. He’s kept a diary for almost as long. Come join a conversation about what dates mean to us, and see how the same day has as many faces as there are people. Share a day that’s special to you. Listen to others’. There is a poem for every occasion, and every date.
Date and Time is a semi-improvised spoken-word poetry performance exploring connection, practice, and humanity. In it, Albert invites members of the audience to share a date that is special to them. He then reads out the poem he wrote that day, and engages the audience in a conversation.
No two nights are the same. Some are hilarious and joyful, others explorations of grief and humanity. Date and Time combines the magic of improvisation, the beauty of poetry, and the wonder of live theatre.
Date and time is not your usual poetry performance. Nor is Albert your usual poet. He majored in taxation and psychology, works in data, and never properly studied poetry or anything related to writing. He barely even went to poetry events. He just locked himself inside and practiced for years on end, and it shows. A unique voice in a unique show with a unique performer, Date and Time is not to be missed.
"Sitting in the silence is hard, but Lin holds his own. There is a tenderness to the way he interacts with each person that joins him, and he listens to their stories to make sense of why the date is important…the crowd embraces Lin in this one-of-a-kind performance." – Theatre Travels
"…while some audience members felt timid when requested to participate, Lin’s presence of ease and self-confidence drew them in regardless." - Artshub
