Dan Hogan is a working-class writer and author of Secret Third Thing, which won the Five Islands Prize and Mary Gilmore Award, and was named one of the ‘best 25 Australian books of 2023’ by The Guardian. Hogan’s work has been recognised by the Peter Porter Poetry Prize, Judith Wright Poetry Prize, and Val Vallis Award, among others.
Helen Jarvis, A poet and teacher, lives on the land of the Bunurong People. Her poetry has won the Ada Cambridge and Nillumbik Ekphrasis awards, and came second in the 2024 Gwen Harwood prize. Her first poetry collection, The Kindness of Water, was published this year by 5 Islands Press.
Peter Bakowski has been writing poetry for 43 years. In each of his poetry collections there are portrait poems of real and fictitious individuals, revealed at a pivotal moment in their lives. No matter how many books Peter writes in his lifetime they’ll all be about what it’s like to be a human being.
