Discover and embrace your inner surrealist at this independent, multi-arts festival featuring continuous events "of the weird, by the weird, for the weird".
20th Century Fish in association with Endlessoptimism, incontinently present: (The Ninth) FESTIVAL OF SURREALISMS, Saturday March 15th and Sunday March 16th 2025, at Temperance Hall in Napier Street, South Melbourne.
Compered by Captain W.N. Fish (Bill Marshall) and his loyal co-producer, Dr Oculus (Marco Lawrence), the FESTIVAL OF SURREALISMS features non-stop performances of Dadaistic poetry, unusual musical offerings, strange theatrical spectacles, psychedelic movies, avant-garde experimental sounds and bizarre “happenings”.
Performers include: Myron Lysenko, Eddie Burger, Lulu Lala, Sean O’Callaghan, Priyanka Jain, Steve Smart, π.o., Gabrielle Everall and HelChild. Don't miss the chance to see Bill Marshall's short plays performed and some of Peter Murphy's best-loved poetry.
Back by popular demand will be a Comedy Debate on the topic "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one". Six debaters from Melbourne’s comedy scene pit their wits for a quizzical and hilarious examination of preconceived notions.
The Comedy Debate is presented by: The Centre for Australian Comedic Action Inc (CACA) in association with Creativity’s Midwife. https://www.caca.au/
