Musical Sporks Is a upcoming regular poetry gig where you have the option of performing your poetry to music, there will be a set menu of five tracks made by George O’Hara (aka Fluxofhumour) each with a mood or energy, Angry, Horny, Sad, Atmospheric, and Beats, the tracks will occasionally change as will the moods as we get a feel for what people want.

This July Radio Laria is proud and excited to be featuring two fantastic poets, Shoshanna Rockman and Sarah St James (aka Sadie). Shoshanna is an enthralling poet who is inspired by feminism, humanism, science, mythology and magic. Sarah/Sadie is a spoken word poet whose writing explores themes of identity, accountability, sobriety and survival through the lenses of gender, sexuality and familial dysfunction. We will also have ten open mic spots where you can perform in front of the magical, shining bookshelves at Library Portal (opposite no.11 Hawthorn Rd, Northcote). Tickets are $10 (full), $5 (concession) or you can choose a generous ticket if you would like to help us support the poets and our venue Library Portal.

What is Camp Therapy, you ask? Well it's definitely, absolutely, probably not a cult. Though you may have seen some very colourful people around lately wearing matching shirts and making hand signs that look just a little culty. Camp Therapy is a forthcoming feature film written and directed by our darling Saara Lamberg. In brief, CT is Australia's first trans-activist satire about a conversion therapy for straight people. Seriously very funny.

Sip & Share returns to Rahona on Friday 19 June, and this one is going to be special.
Our feature poet is Dr Melanie Jansen, a Brisbane-based intensive care physician whose poetry sits at the intersection of medicine, mortality, and the stubborn persistence of ordinary life. Her debut collection, All That Could Be Lost, has already won hearts and prizes. Hearing her read in person is something else entirely.

Juniper has truly justified being the poet who accepted the final handover of the Passionate Tongues Candle on behalf of Bar Oussou Spoken Word back in 2024. Since then she has taken on co-hosting the iconic Tuesday night gig and has enraptured audiences with her poetic words.

Poetica: The Explorations Edition is a celebration of poetry that pushes boundaries, experiments with form and creative disciplines, and seeds bold and expansive ideas with a focus on poetry and the spoken word. We are proud to present Alex Creece, author of the award-winning ‘Potty Mouth, Potty Mouth’ and Sean O’Callaghan, who combines poetry and prose with abstraction, humour, and by tracing meaning in ordinary scenes. Helena Pantsis, author of ‘CAPTCHA’ and ‘Mother Salad’ will be sharing her dark, peculiar poetry, and Iranian-Australian Yaru will perform a hybrid of emotionally engaging poetry and music.

Welcome to our second event in our new home in the Dandenong Library. There is both free and paid parking around the library, and the Dandenong Train Station is quite close as well.
Our Poetry and Spoken Word events will be held there on the second Saturday of each month from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
If you'd like to attend the poetry workshop beforehand, I'll be holding it in the library to avoid the winter weather. The workshop will start at 1pm and last until 2 pm. At that point, I'll be setting up the event space on the library's ground floor.
Do consider wandering past The Nong Cafe for a quick bite or a takeaway coffee! There are other great food and drink venues around as well.
