Dear Friends, please join us for a night of great poetry with Karen Throssel and Carmel Macdonald Grahame on Friday, April 3rd, 6-7pm EST.
This reading is the first of several pairings in the 2026 program that also includes feature poets from Scotland.
Karen is a Melbourne poet and writer of creative nonfiction. She has written 7 volumes of poetry
and two books of creative nonfiction. She has had poems published in many journals including
Meanjin Overland Quadrant and Westerly, and appeared in many anthologies. Her work has been shortlisted for the Society of Women Writers Award, and the Dorothy Hewett award for creative non-fiction. She has been actively involved on the community poetry scene in the Yarra Valley for many
years. Her most recent poetry manuscript Not Destiny is currently looking for a publisher!
Carmel Macdonald Grahame has published widely in literary journals and anthologies. Her novel Personal Effects was published in 2014. A poetry collection, Angles, is a collaboration with Karen Throssell. Among her awards are the Melbourne Poets Union Prize and the Patricia Hackett Prize for poetry. Her latest publication isTelling Times, a collaboration with short fiction author Susan Midalia.
Carmel & Karen will read for 15-20 mins each, followed by the popular QnA involving the on line audience and concluding with their encore.
