PoetiCas has been hosting regular poetry gatherings in Castlemaine since 2015, following on the tradition of Ross Donlon's poetry readings in the decade prior. It has grown into a wonderful community and their monthly events are beloved by many.
We would love you to join us for the PoetiCas Keepsake event this coming Saturday 23rd May at the Northern Arts Hotel in Castlemaine.
Curated by Rachael Guy, Ann DeHugard, Rob Wallis and Andy Jackson, the Keepsake collection explores the notions of memory, identity, and the impulse to hold on to what time will erase. This Saturday at PoetiCas, sixteen local poets will read their contribution from the collection.
We hope to recreate a sense of the atmosphere at the Keepsake launch held as part of the Castlemaine State Festival. Australian author, Carmel Bird, will launch the event with a summary of each poet’s work. We are also fortunate to have the professional composer and musician, Anne Norman, perform a selection of her shakuhachi pieces as part of the program.
Our schedule is tight. Please make sure you are seated no later than 2.30pm. Doors open at 2.00pm. Your $5.00 cash donation supports visiting PoetiCas artists. Drinks including mulled wine will be available for purchase at the bar.
Signed copies of the Keepsake collection will be available for sale for $20.00 (cash only). Please note there will be no open mic section at this event.
So buy a drink from the bar and join us at The Coolroom at the Northern Arts Hotel, the new home for PoetiCas.
