The Simba Sessions ft. Mietta, Yasi, Benigar

  • 54 Ebden Street Kyneton, VIC, 3444 Australia (map)

The Simba Sessions is a monthly music and poetry night curated around a theme, and a small growing community drawn together by stories and the arts. We build community and seek to hold safe spaces. Here we nurture and celebrate the creative spirit understanding that the stories that lay behind the art are often as powerful as the art itself.

Join us with for a ‘quiet night in’ to explore our stories in poetry and song in candle-lit, wine-soaked warmth. It’s always special and unique!

About Our Artists:

Mietta

Mornington Peninsula-based singer-songwriter, Mietta, weaves place, feeling, and community into tender folk storytelling and gatherings. With earthy tones and graceful stage presence, she draws listeners into acoustic soundscapes that invite us to slow down and listen deeply to people, story and place.

Beyond performance, Mietta’s contributions extend in service of cross-cultural education, youth co-design and research in education system transformation, exploring how we build, reconcile and restore relationships with each other, with story, and with the living world.

Her work asks: How do we slow down enough to truly listen? How do we return our attention to one another and to the lands and waters that sustain us? How do we live and honour our connection to people, story and place?

Benigar

benigar is the musical project of Macedon Ranges songwriter Nikita Brockmuller. Her smoky, sultry vocals are the signature of an intimate, atmospheric and quietly cinematic sound that wraps dream-folk textures around tales of love, longing and the long drive home.

She’s joined by Nick Johnson on guitar, Rob Bassett on bass and Max Atkins on drums. With echoes of Mazzy Star, Cat Power and Cowboy Junkies carried into the Australian landscape, benigar conjures strange characters and the long road home.

Yasi

Yasi, from the Slamtidote poetry collective, is a carpentry apprentice by day, and a poet otherwise.

Exploring the power of poetry as a tool for self exploration and also when having an impact on the community around him; Yasi's words speak on themes of nature, the make-up of the mind and the human spirit that resides within all of us.

A loud advocate of the marginalised communities, Yasi plans to curate a series of poems that tells a story of poetic existence.
