Coral Carter lives in Perth but grew up in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia and Port Augusta in South Australia. A guest of the Queensland Poetry Festival 2013, inaugural writer in residence for Northern Territory Writers Centre 2013 and guest at Perth Poetry Festival 2014.
She reads every week at the Perth Poetry Club in Northbridge. Coral was shortlisted in the Newcastle poetry prize 2022 and won the Looking Forward/Looking Back poetry prize 2023.
She was long listed for The University of Canberra Vice-Chancellor’s International Poetry Prize in 2024. She has published two collections Descended from Thieves Mulla Mulla Press 2012 and Backyard Listening Mulla Mulla Press 2019 and is working on her third.
Coral will read for 20 mins, followed by a QnA involving the live zoom audience, concluding with her encore.
