Poetry from Agitation Hill (ONLINE ONLY) ft Jean Atkin

Poetry from Agitation Hill presents Jean Atkin, coming to us via zoom from the U.K. on Friday 20th June 6-7pm EST. It's a morning start for Jean to be here. Thanks, Jean.

Please join us for a night of great poetry zooming  across Australia and into digispace.

Jean Atkin is a Cumbrian/Scottish poet now living in Shropshire. Since 2010 she has worked as a poet in education and community, often in collaboration with other artists.  Her third full collection ‘High Nowhere’ (IDP, 2023) was nominated for the Laurel Prize for environmental and nature writing. Her work has featured on BBC Radio 4’s Ramblings with Claire Balding, and appeared recently in 14 magazine, Dreich, Poetry Scotland, Ink, Sweat & Tears, Columba Poetry and others. In December 2024 she was one of the winners of the Coast to Coast to Coast Individual Poet Journal Prize. Her recent collaboration with Richard Skinner, ‘Crossing Paths’ is a book of poems about walking, place, nomenclature and nature which will be published by Black Cat Press in 2026. Jean is also working on a book about women writer-travellers, much of which was written during a month’s residency in Latvia in 2024.

Jean will read for about 20 minutes, followed by the popular QnA, concluding with her encore
