  • The Chapel, Uniting Church of Castlemaine Lyttleton Street Castlemaine, VIC, 3450 Australia (map)

Dear Friends, please join us for a night of great poetry with Ann de Hugard & Rob Wallis on Friday, May 2nd 6-7pm at the chapel, Castlemaines. Their collaboration, 'After the Cabaret,' was launched in 2024.

Ann de Hugard  lives in Chewton, Central Victoria. She started writing poetry at seven, little rhymes about fairies. Since then she has continued to write. Her themes and styles have broadened considerably and her poems explore (among many subjects) family secrets, childhood experiences, feminism, dead lovers and ageing. Her first collection, A Question of Translation, was chosen by Chris Wallace-Crabbe as one of the best books of 2010.

Rob Wallis’s sixth collection of poetry, Down Rainbow Road, was published by Clouds of Magellan Press in 2021. His poems have appeared in various magazines and anthologies in Australia and overseas. He has won the John Shaw Neilson Poetry Award, the W.B.Yeats Poetry Prize and twice won the Melbourne Poets’s Union Martin Downey Urban Realist Award. He has been shortlisted for the Fish Publishing International Poetry competition, Ireland, the Bridport Prize, UK, and the Australian Catholic University Prize for Poetry. He lives in country Victoria where he has become a table tennis tragic.

We meet on Dja Dja Warung country and pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.
