Josie/Jocelyn Suzanne is a writer/freelance editor living on unceded Wurundjeri land in Naarm. She has been published in Overland, Meanjin and Rabbit Journal among others. In 2023 she was shortlisted for the Kat Muscat fellowship, in 2022 the Val Valis award. She was the winner of the 2021 Harri Jones award, and was one of the recipients of the Next Chapter fellowship. She is a genderqueer trans femme.

Perform your poetry, creative writing or performance art on the open mic to a friendly audience or come and be part of the crowd. There are going to be themes, writing prompts and improvised creativity (2 lines to a theme to music). Completely free. For more information check the Facebook events closer to the date. To keep this event a safe space for everyone, there will be no hate speech or your mic will be turned off and you may be asked to leave the stage.
Mamma Chen's is a wheelchair accessible venue however, the stage is not; we are happy to pass you the mic if needed.
