‘Exquisite Corpse Sonnets’ is a collaborative work between Lucy Wilks and Leone Gabrielle. They are both long term members of Sandy Beach Writers run by Claire Gaskin, and have been published in leading literary journals, such as Meanjin and Cordite.

In their own words:

“We noted that Rabbit was soliciting writing of a collaborative nature thus our sonnets were born. We started with the ‘end of the line’. The first poem introduces the method by the way we crafted the poem. The last three words of each line, were all that was given to the writer of the following line, to craft the next line and so on.”

Leone Gabrielle writes from Seymour, a snaking river town in Central Victoria, Australia, on Taungurung country. Published: ‘Cordite,’ ‘A.P.J.,’ ‘Plumwood Mountain,’ ‘Mona Magazine,’ ‘MASKS Literary,’ ‘XR Global,’ ‘Meanjin’ and ‘Minds Shine Bright Storm.’ Zoom has facilitated many global penpersonships, some far away as St John’s Newfoundland. Leone is a long term member of Sandybeach Writers, when not writing she is in company of ravens, dogs and flowers.

Lucy Wilks is a Melbourne based writer who enjoys playing with metrical constraints and traditional forms. Her work has appeared in ‘Verse,’ ‘Meanjin,’ ‘Southerly,’ ‘Otoliths,’ ‘Plumwood Mountain,’ ‘Cordite,’ and ‘Rabbit.’ In 2019 Winged Fish published ‘A Trial of Tercets,’ a handmade miniature, made and illustrated by Leone Gabrielle. Her most recent involvement is with the City of Voices, a performance group in South Melbourne and the Vossanova Choir. Lucy also plays the mandolin and has a love of Bluegrass.
