Feature: Cam Gleeson
Cam Gleeson disappears into poetry around family. His work incorporates sport, faith and gender-relations but ends up being about who he is related to.
Cam attended Poetry Slams in the USA in 2017 and 18. There he discovered a profound purpose and many peers. However, losing to an 11-year-old kid in a Slam heat, forced him to open mic and workshop convening.
Cam has been in the Northern Territory for four years and is just now finding his voice in a different location. Inspired and recovering from Covid isolation, Cam has been teaching in the different communities of Arnhem Land.
He quotes a poet friend:
‘We are not your competition we are your audience”.
