PROFESSIONALISING POETRY WITHOUT A PATH: THREE RING CIRCUS COMES TO TOWN
Three Ring Circus (Arielle Cottingham, Will Beale, and Sam Ferrante) hit Naarm like a whirlwind in 2015-2016. Former co-creative producers of Slamalamadingdong and facilitators of the Melbourne Spoken Word Workshops at Under the Hammer, these three poets, creatives, and convenors consider their time in Naarm the turning point in their artistic and professional lives.
Join us for a panel, moderated by Es Foong, in which we explore how these three poets have professionalised their poetry career in wildly different ways, to assist young poets in understanding the many paths they can take to creating a holistic life making the art. By no means perfect paths, this poetry panel and performance exists in the spirit of sharing, learning and growing together - giving behind-the-scenes advice that young Sam, Arielle and Will wish they heard when they first started out in the scene.
Arielle, Will, and Sam will also be performing old and new poetry in conversation with each other as part of this virtual event. This event is part nostalgia, part panel, part curated cypher, and all heart.
We cannot wait to see you for this free and virtual gig!
