Perc.U.Lations - 21st of Oct 2023

  • Kafe on Hemmings 86 Hemmings Street Dandenong, VIC, 3175 Australia (map)

Our Feature for the 21st of October will be: Phu-Linh Tran

Phu-Linh Tran is a Melbourne-based poet, visual artist, and spoken word performer.

Linh has appeared as a featured poet at Girls on Key, Passionate Tongues, Be Mused, Fresh Voices, Poetryspective, and Poetry at The Dan O’Connell and The Cherry Tree Hotel.

She released her first self-published chapbook Adventures in P-Minor in 2019 and has since been published in literary journals LiteLitOne, Unusual Work and Farrago. Her work has also been published in two Australian anthologies: From the Ashes (2020) edited by C.S. Hughes and Shoot the Breeze (2022), published by Girls on Key Press. She launched her second collection Is This The End of The Line or Is This the End? in 2023.

She believes in magic, aliens, the bardo, nirvana, enlightenment, Krishna and mysterious men in black bowler hats. She doesn’t care for eating legumes or sitting in luxury airport lounges.

An open mic is available for as many poets as we can squeeze in before and after our feature. This gig will celebrate young poets (the Little Aesthetics program for anyone 12 and under) as well as people who read the works of other poets (the Rhetorical Recreation Society). If you have work you would like other people to present, you will always find cheerful readers as well.

The venue for Perc.u.lations is the wonderfully generous Kafé on Hemmings (86 Hemmings St), in Dandenong. about a 15-minute walk from either Dandenong or Yarraman train stations. There is also handy, free parking available behind the medical centre on the opposite corner.

Perc.u.lations is taking place on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded and we extend our respects to Indigenous elders past, present, and emerging.

This event is ticketed using ‘Pay as you Feel’ via Eventbrite, as the Kafé will continue serving the general public, and closing off the area isn't feasible. This way even walk-in traffic can contribute.
Perc.u.lations is affiliated with Radio Laria and its poets. 50% or more of all features throughout the year will be women, however, men are also encouraged to apply to this event and the open mic is open to anyone.

ACCESSIBILITY: Wheelchair access to venue,Wheelchair access to stage / performance space
