Perc.U.Lations ft. Libby Charlton

  • Kafe on Hemmings 86 Hemmings Street Dandenong, VIC, 3175 Australia (map)

Our Poetry and Spoken Word events are (usually) held on the second Saturday of the month at 3 p.m., with a Poetry Writing Workshop running from 2 pm to 3 pm for anyone interested.

Our feature this June is Libby Charlton!

As Libby says: "I've read my poems on radio and in pubs and venues all over Melbourne. I was first published in 2007 and last published in June 2025 In 2019 I published the Dan Anthology with 18 visual artist and 62 poets. I love writing poetry, I love to MC poetry gigs and I love jazz. My new passion is playing piano and singing my original music in clubs."

An 'open mic' is available for as many poets as possible before and after our feature (or as much poetry as we are happy to share before our time is up).

This gig is happy to celebrate young poets (the Little Aesthetics program for anyone 12 and under) as well as people who read the works of other poets (the Rhetorical Recreation Society). If you have work you would like other people to present, you will always find cheerful readers too.

The venue for Perc.U.lations is the wonderfully generous Kafé on Hemmings (86 Hemmings St), in Dandenong, about a 15-minute walk from either Dandenong or Yarraman train stations. There is also handy, free parking available behind the medical centre on the opposite corner.

This event is ticketed using ‘Pay as you Feel’ via Eventbrite, as the Kafé will continue serving the general public. Open-mic and feature presenters are therefore asked to keep their works in the 'PG' range for this event.

Perc.U.lations is affiliated with Radio Laria and is committed to highlighting the voices of women and gender-diverse poets. 50% or more of all features throughout the year will be women, however, men are also encouraged to apply to this event and the open mic is open to anyone.

Perc.U.lations, is taking place on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri and Bunerong peoples of the Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded and we extend our respects to Indigenous elders past, present, and emerging.
