Poetic Express with Arnold Zable

  • The Brother's Public House 42 Johnston Street Fitzroy, VIC, 3065 Australia (map)

Hello everyone, Tuesday the 30th of April is Poetic Express night... and the feature performer is Arnold Zable.

I cannot describe just how excited I am to present one of the most admired and loved writers in Melbourne... a true writer's writer. One of the biggest supporters of anyone who picks up a pen and will show you just how beautiful language can be. This will definitely be a night you will remember.

Here's proof:
Arnold Zable is an acclaimed writer, novelist, human rights advocate, and the recipient of the 2021 Australia Council Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature. His books include Jewels and Ashes, Café Scheherazade, Scraps of Heaven, Sea of Many Returns, The Fig Tree, Violin Lessons, The Fighter and most recently, The Watermill. Zable has written numerous stories, features, essays, columns, and works for theatre and radio. He has lectured widely on writing, and the art of story, and performed as a storyteller in Australia and internationally. He is long-time activist with PEN International which advocates on behalf of imprisoned writers.

There will also be an open mic section of course, as well as the famous hospitality of The Brothers Public House.
See you there.
