Hello everyone, next Wednesday night is Poetic Express night. And the feature performer is Gayelene Carbis.

Gayelene Carbis is an Australian-Irish-Cornish-Chinese writer of poetry, prose and plays. Her second book of poetry, I Have Decided to Remain Vertical (Puncher and Wattmann) was awarded Finalist in the International Book Awards 2024, U.S. and in 2023, awarded Finalist in the Best Book Awards, U.S., and Poetry Book Awards, U.K. Her debut collection, Anecdotal Evidence (Five Islands Press) was awarded Finalist, International Book Awards, 2019. Her poetry, prose, plays and short film have won and been shortlisted for numerous awards. Gayelene teaches Creative Writing and works as a mentor and manuscript assessor. She writes and lives on the unceded land of the Boonwurrung people.
