Featured Reader: Ross Donlon
Born in Sydney, Ross now lives in Castlemaine, Djaara country. He has published seven books of poetry, the latest being The Naming of Clouds- 50 ghazals. Ross is winner of two international poetry prizes. He was also awarded the Dorothy Hewett Flagship Fellowship for Varuna Writers' Centre and won the Launceston Cup, premier slam event of the Tasmanian Poetry Festival as well as the Ford Memorial Medal for poetry from his alma mater, UQ, the University of Queensland. Published in leading Australian literary journals and national dailies, Ross is represented in numerous poetry anthologies in Australia and the U.K. He has read at festivals in Australia, the U.K. and Ireland as well as other readings in Norway, Romania and Poland. A sequence of poems about his father, The Blue Dressing Gown, was produced for ABC Radio National. Ross has convened poetry and literary events for three Castlemaine State Festivals and has convened poetry readings in Castlemaine for twenty years. He will appear in the forthcoming Castlemaine State Festival in 2026 with singer Rebecca Morton and guitarist Ken White in an event for poetry and song, Deep Heart.
