Poets and non-poets, all welcome! Read a poem or just enjoy listening. Arrive a little earlier to buy a drink and to write your name on the board if you are performing.

Bruce Chandler - Bush Poet March Feature:
Born in Geelong in '64, Bruce moved to French Island in '67. He completed his my primary school education at Perseverance Primary School French Island and then completed four years at Dromana Tech. Bruce left school and home at 15 years old and travelled north where he drove cattle for four years out across the western plains of NSW. After a short stint back on French Island, horse breaking and rabbit shooting, he soon went west into WA. Bruce worked at cattle stations in the Kimberley's, sheep stations in Esperance and Wiluna. After his first marriage ended, he returned to French Island. Bruce then met a Canadian backpacker in the old jail on the island, fell in love and followed her to Canada where they married and had 5 children. They lived in northern BC and had a small sheep ranch. They were the most northern sheep farmers in western Canada for many years. Bruce shore sheep, guided hunters on horse back, rodeo-clowned and rode broncs. He owned and worked in timber mills whilst participating in the cowboy poetry circuit. In 2019 his marriage ended and once again he returned to French Island where he manages a Wagyu beef farm and 'Camping with Koalas'. Bruce also owns and runs a small timber mill and enjoys entertaining with spoken word.
