Radio Laria Poetry w Marion May Campbell and Priyanka Jain

  • Open Studio 204 High Street Northcote, VIC, 3070 Australia (map)

This June it will be an honour to host two deeply thought-provoking poets, Marion May Campbell and Priyanka Jain. Marion May Campbell is a queer-feminist poet, novelist and playwright who has stunned us on the open mic with her enthralling word-craft. Priyanka Jain is a performance artist with many stories to tell; but this Radio Laria we will be screening her surreal and compelling film “A Woman Navigates Her Way Through Breast Cancer.” We are having our usual ten open mic spots, but five of these spots will be filled with poetry films.

Tickets are $10 or $5 and are available at:
https://www.stickytickets.com.au/RO56P

Tickets available on the door, but please remember we only accept cash.

Doors open 7pm and the live poetry kicks off at 07:30, at the Black Spark Cultural Centre (126A Gladstone Ave, Northcote, 3060).

If you have a poetry film that you would like us to share, please email it in MP4 format to radiolariapoetry@gmail.com by Saturday 24th May.

For the live open mic, it’s the usual rules (sign up on the night, and five-minute limit). The audience is very supportive, and we welcome new readers. Men are welcome to share on the open mic, but please be mindful that this is a night to promote women’s poetry and we ask that you behave respectfully. We are anticipating that the open mic spots could fill up quite quickly, so please don’t be too disheartened if you don’t get to read at this gig, as there will be plenty of other opportunities at future Radio Larias.

Our venue, the grassroots Black Spark Cultural Centre, serves two things that most poets love… coffee and wine! (Other options available if you don’t fit that stereotype…) You are also allowed to bring in food from outside as long as it’s not too messy. Come along and join this warm, vibrant poetry community and check out what else is going on at the Black Spark Cultural Centre.

COST: Tickets are $10 or $5 and are available at:
