Feature Poet Penelope Arvanitakis.
Penelope has been performing since childhood; callisthenics, jazz ballet, piano, music theatre, she toured America with the Children’s Performing Company of Australia at 15, Europe at 19, majored in Drama and English at Monash university, holds a Postgraduate Honours in Performing Arts, worked as a performer at Hunchbax Theatre restaurant, been in dozens of short films and performed at open mics in Melbourne and London as a singer/songwriter, accompanying herself on piano.
She featured at the Yarra Valley Spoken Word in May last year and has revelled in her role as committee member since.
At the start of 2023, her old friend Steve aka Owlsley approached her to compose music together. They co-wrote ‘Burning in the Sound’, which was released in September last year. They had their debut performance at the Warburton Arts Centre in February and recently performed at Sooki Lounge. They have an EP coming out June 28 2024.
This May, Penelope will delight us by performing the lyrics/melodies to the 6 tracks from their EP.
Her chosen theme for the evening is Change, Transition, Transformation, Evolution.
