Poet's Corner July Gathering ft. Mick Potter

  • Wildflower Cafe 665-667 Point Nepean Road McCrae, VIC, 3938 Australia (map)

Poets and non-poets are all welcome to our gatherings! Read a poem or just enjoy listening. Arrive a little earlier to order your meal and drink and to write your name on the board if you are presenting. There will be two open mic sets and a half hour feature set with some short breaks between. Wildflower Cafe is a fully licensed cafe`.

You are in for a treat! PC's July featured poet is Mick Potter.
“A poet’s autobiography is his poetry. Anything else is just a footnote.”
Michael (Mick) Potter is a Mornington Peninsula-based poet and writer of short fiction. (Apparently, he can write longer fiction, but he is far too lazy.) Mick’s creations have been published in anthologies, magazines, and zines. Mick gained a Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing from Chisholm Institute of TAFE in 1999 by hacking into the college’s mainframe. Among Mick’s preferred themes are relationships and social justice, but he is equally at home with humour, and axolotls. And if there is an envelope present, chances are that Mick will be pushing it. Mick’s hobbies are hang-gliding, upsetting far-right Nationalists, and swimsuit modelling. Mick has been employed by people who really should have known better. Mick hopes to eventually earn enough from his writing to free himself from the need to rob banks, and to have to wash windscreens at intersections.

Doors open at 5pm and event starts 5:30pm sharp. Event concludes 7:30pm sharp. Bookings are advisable. Poets' Corner will no longer take an entry fee directly at the door, instead this will be absorbed into the dining booking. What’s on offer?
