Our Poetry and Spoken Word events are (usually) held on the second Saturday of the month at 2.30 p.m., with a Poetry Writing Workshop running from 1 pm to 2 pm for anyone interested.

Please also note the location: Vespertine Gardens at 6 Cadle St, Dandenong, 3175. This location is weather-dependent, so check your emails / the Facebook event and so on, closer to the day and if it looks like it might rain significantly.

Musical Sporks Is a upcoming regular poetry gig where you have the option of performing your poetry to music, there will be a set menu of five tracks made by George O’Hara (aka Fluxofhumour) each with a mood or energy, Angry, Horny, Sad, Atmospheric, and Beats, the tracks will occasionally change as will the moods as we get a feel for what people want.

Indulge in the bizarre and the beautiful, with avant-garde theatre, surreal spoken word, absurd puppetry, experimental music, wild costumes and artistic chaos. Witness standout acts from the recent Festival of Surrealisms and have a seemingly impossible universe transported directly to your hearts and minds. Performers include Katie Lohner, Steve Smart, Helchild, Jez PA Speelman, Sean O’Callaghan, Duff Gregfield & Lulu Lala, with plays by Laura Fisher & Eddy Burger, music by Brendan Gray & Chris Chapple. Please join us for a night of great poetry when Poetry from Agitation Hill presents our feature poet on Friday 6pm to 7pm.

This reading will take place in the chapel of the Uniting Church, Castlemaine, but will also be zoomed across Australia and into the DigiWorld.

PoetiCas has been hosting regular poetry gatherings in Castlemaine since 2015, following on the tradition of Ross Donlon's poetry readings in the decade prior. It has grown into a wonderful community and their monthly events are beloved by many.

Poetry@Chrissy Hills is a bi-monthly poetry reading on the 4th Thursday of the month, 7.30pm

There is a featured reader and the famous open mic. It's held at the Christmas Hills Mechanics' Institute Hall.

Anne Gleeson grew up on Eastern Maar country on a Soldier Settlement farm between Camperdown and Derrinallum in the Western District of Victoria.  She is a writer of essays and prize-winning poetry, published in books, journals and newspapers.

Assorted Sporks is a queer friendly regular poetry and performance night at Mamma Chen's, feature, theme and open mic.

Assorted Sporks alternates every two weeks with Musical Sporks.

Hello everyone, third Monday of the month is Be Fearless Poetry night!

Why call a gig Be Fearless? It's because I want to present performers whose work the audience would otherwise not experience or for them to see more of. To inspire and expose poets to art or poetic performances they haven't seen before.

We are excited and thrilled to be featuring the heart-wrenching Amy Bodossian and the passionate Vasi Samudra Devi! Amy is an outstandingly talented poet, songbird, cabaret star and comic who loves and is well-loved, by Radio Laria. Vasi Samudra Devi is an artist, poet, theatre maker, activist and dedicated step-mum with a boundless energy to resist and create. Vasi will treating us to her spoken word and art (with the help of the projector…) We are equally excited to get our open mic flowing and everyone is welcome to share (ten spots available, five-minute limit, sign up on the night, and arriving early is recommended for sign up).

Café Philosophique explores the hidden forces shaping our lives through creative arts, writing and conversation.

As we barrel roll into our 5th week at the fabulous Yorkshire Stingo Hotel, we are most delighted to welcome the highly respected and awesome Anne Elvey as our feature poet. Anne is a brilliant wordsmith, such dedication to craft and to truth alongside beauty. We feel quite lucky indeed.
